Dan Pubanz is the owner and forester for Wolf River Forestry.

He has Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Forestry and over 25 years of field experience in forest management throughout  Wisconsin and its varied forest types. Dan is a member of Forest Guild, The Nature Conservancy, Wisconsin Woodland Owners Association, Wisconsin Wetlands Association, and Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin.

Dan spent his first 16 years of professional management on a 235,000-acre property in northeastern Wisconsin, beginning with forest inventory and mapping. Subsequently, he oversaw the timber stand improvement and tree planting program for five years and spent the last 10 years on the property overseeing all pre-harvest management activity (including forest planning, harvest scheduling, management treatment development and implementation, and ecological monitoring).

In 2003, he began work with Clark Forestry, Inc., to provide land management services to private, non-industrial landowners.

In 2004, Dan began Wolf River Forestry, LLC.  Wolf River Forestry is a Cooperating Forester with the Wisconsin DNR and a Certified Plan Writer. Since its inception, Wolf River Forestry has written management plans and/or managed properties for hundreds of clients.

Wolf River Forestry also works as a Lead Auditor for the Rainforest Alliance’s program for FSC forest management certification. This work includes conducting annual audits for Lake States, Appalachian, and Northeast US forest managers of private companies, non-govermental organizations and county/state/federal agencies to assess compliance with FSC program criteria. Since 2003, Wolf River Forestry has audited over 3,000,000 acres of forest land in WI, MN, MI, PA, WV, VA, NY, VT, ME and MA.
